The argument can be made that while Israel does not deserve to be attacked by terrorists (no state does) its own actions can be said to have exacerbated the problem over the years.

Both sides have exacerbated the problem. The recent round of Palestinian terrorist attacks have accomplished the following:

1. A dramatic lessening of sympathy toward the plight of the Palestinians from Israeli Jews.

2. The election of a hard-liner named Ariel Sharon.

3. Israeli military incursions into the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Naturally, this causes the Palestinians to hate Jewish Israelis even more (which is the real motivation behind terrorism), more volunteer as terrorists, more attacks are made.

I have sympathy neither for the Israeli military and government nor the Palestinian Authority and terrorist organizations. I do sympathize with the many innocent, peace-loving people on both sides who are caught in the middle while their country self-destructs around them.
