It's easy to tout UN resolutions against Israel, but considering what they've gone through with their neighbors (Not including terrorism) one cannot blame them for ignoring them. The UN resolutions would see Israel destroyed.

It is my opinion that the UN is largely a pro-Arab, anti-Israel body. One significant fact to back my belief is the UN resolution that labeled Zionism as a form of "racism." Zionism is only in the belief that the Jews deserve a homeland...isn't the desire for a homeland, after all, what the Palestinians want?

Other evidence is the UN treatment of the "refugee" problem. We here about all the Arabs usually (originally number around 40,000 I believe) but we almost always fail to hear about the Jews (number about 70,000). Why? Because, unlike the surrounding Arab countries who refused to accept their kinsmen, Israel assimilated the Jewish refugees into their country.

What about the Arab refugees though, you might ask, why doesn't Israel solve that problem? Well, first off, I would say that the Arabs like the problem since it creates sympathy towards them and it gives them leverage against Israel. But, under Israel, the Arab refugees have seen improved life. For instance, in the Gaza, under Egyptian care, the refugees were ignored. Under Israel, new infrastructures were put in so that they could have running water and electricity, hospitals and other government facilities were built, and they were allowed to get jobs within Israel. Most of the people during that time appreciated what Israel did.

As for the land dispute, wouldn't your country have a hard time giving and away to a group that was founded for your destruction? The PLO's original charter called for the destruction and removal of all Jews from Palestine (which has never been a country, btw, it's just the name for the entire region, including Jordan). To be fair, the PLO also wanted to get rid of Jordan since it was apart of the Belford declaration too.

Besides that, the West Bank contains almost all of Israel's most holy sites...while only containing some contrived holy sites to the Arabs (I'm sorry if that offends anybody, but it is historically accurate. I sympathize with those Arabs who have been taught that, though, and know it's become a harder situation to deal with because of it).

I, personally, see no reason for Israel to give up land. They won the land because of Arab aggression. Besides that, if you really thought they should give up the land because they only gained it through war, then the land should go to Jordan, from which it came. I believe they still should have the Sinai...but at least Egypt has kept to their promises of peace.

I'm not a politician, I don't have to deal with these things diplomatically, and I know that things can't be as simple as Israel completely rejecting what some of the Palestinians want. All I know is that history is against the Palestinians since they are a group that didn't exist until 1966 and have an extremely flimsy claim to a land that rightfully belongs to the Jews.

I'm an avid history fan, so that's where my stance comes from. I see that Israel has been and will continue to be unfairly treated in an area that is filled with her enemies.

But, this is all just my opinion.
