Anyhow ...

What a World Cup so far! France, Argentina & Portugal fail to make it out of group play, and now we got no less than 3 major surprises in the quarterfinals: Senegal, the US, and whoever wins the Turkey-Japan match. And don't count out South Korea.

Then again, some things never change: Brazil & Germany are both in the quarters, too. So're England & Spain, two strong European teams. ('strong European' is probably a redundancy, but anyhow ...)

Now I gotta decide whether to (a) take a day off work on Friday morning to watch USA-Germany live; that day is my last possible day to earn $$$ from subbing, or (b) time-tape the match and avoid all possible human contact (apart from the kids I'd be subbing) until I get the chance to watch. Of course, it's possible that no job opens up for me that day, what with final exams and all.


Hey, maybe I'll start following MLS in the States! (if only Philly had a team ...)
