Sorry about the somewhat colourful subject line - all I can say in my defense is that it's slightly less offensive than what I actually said out loud when I read your post, Icon! :-) Knowing what little I know of Hasbro (and large companies in general who own a well-loved product) I can see this as being ominously true to form......and would be yet another slap in the face for every Transfan who doesn't happen to live in the USA. Have these people actually forgotten that there is a market for these toys outside of the US? That there are Transformers conventions, a thriving online community and a great deal of people now in their 20s (ie, with spending power) who are crying out for these products? Have they forgotten that in the UK in particular support for the market was so strong in the past that we spawned our own exclusive toys AND comics?

The thing that most irritates me is that the situation is so easily remedied. Transformers are not well supported in the UK - therefore, they won't sell well if they ship them over here (so runs the logic). Solution? Advertise the bloody things! Granted, even with advertising they may not sell well, but they should at least TRY!

To get back to the comics thing in particular, I would not be shocked to see them vanish from comics shops outside of nothern America. I don't want to fall into the trap of the simplistic thinker and blame Hasbro alone (I am sure there are many contributing factors) but I absolutely refuse to believe that Hasbro is completely unaware that there is a market for Transformers outside of the US.

Baaaah. In a bad mood now!

FD
