"Oh I know who Hitler was, he was that guy that signed Indiana Jones book in the Last Crusade." -something a person with a short attention span would say to Fawndoo's question of 'Who was Hitler?'.

If you ever have a chance and can check out WGN Super Station some time at night, a show called Street Smarts (taking off of Jaywalking) shows just how dumb some people can get.

Now imagine if you can sitting in a college history class, and having the girl next you ask you if Gorge Washington-Carver was a brother-in-law of our first president. *Oh the horror*

Throw in on that that a number of kids who I know on my block get all bent out of shape when I tell them that pop music was happening way before the Backstreet Boys and Pop Stars.

Lets face it, the generation of teens that are growing up right now were weened on interactive video games, and televison shows that have very little if no substance at all. (Think Jenny Jones, Rici Lake, and Gawd help us Total Request Live.) What's really suprising to me is how self-centered teens are becoming. If it doesn't revolve around something that is hip, or have a hot star in it, or spout tons of blood, or has something to do with them, then it's not worth learning about.

Look at poor Sesame Street here in the states. What was once a great TV show has fallen down to making a Star out of the furry red fellow, Elmo, and making Big Bird play a game of hide and seek on tv with Erine. *Ugh*

Even shows like Dateline and Twenty/Twenty have had to adopted a emphisis on scandles and other things just to keep the peoples eye. The Chicago Tribune is actually printing out a newspaper magazine for those who can't stand reading a regualar news paper, or don't have the time. And this thing only has blurbs, and most of it is darn ads! It's disgusting!

My little sister who's twelve actually knows more about certain things then the kids in her class room, who go, duh when you bring up certain factors about history.
