I personally don't believe that Lucas has read any of them or takes them into consideration when writing the movies. I explained what I meant by the Solo/Anakin thing in the reply to Perceptor2's post. Still you are right in that another character should be added to have a more balanced cast.

I also completely agree that they have done a shitty job in developing their villans so far. I hope the last movie goes into it much more.
