Interesting notion, what do I consider essential? Most of these are contradicting at least one other on the list.

The support of my family and friends and a means of communicating with them.

The freedom to be true to myself, without fear of reprisal. (With usual proviso about not harming others built in)

My faith.

Quality time by myself, be it listening to music, watching a truly awful movie, or listening to the rain on the roof.

Access to books!

Oddly enough I don't consider my toys to be essential. They are great fun, but I could live without them without too much trouble.
