ESPN's Jim Caple has an interesting take on the Russian protest. In spite of its mocking tone at the beginning, he does raise a very good point toward the end of the article.

Upon further review, it appears that the exact cause of the Russians' complaint about the womens' figure skating event was that Hughes was able to vault in front of Slutskaya and win gold. Ahem. I'M SORRY BUT THAT'S JUST IGNORANT!!! You'd think these people would bother to learn how the figure skating scoring works. Here's a good explanation for those of you scoring at home.

One final note: the referee that ruled Kim Dong-Sung disqualified was actually Austrialian James Hewish. Of course, we all know how Austrailians just love Americans and can't help to always see things their way...right, Gok?
