Instead of asking which party is "better for the economy", perhaps we should ask which party better obeys our constitutional restraints on government. If a politician tells you he will give you free health care, lower prescription drug costs, a house, a car, or that he will make sure you have a job, what he is telling you is that he does not agree with our constitutional republic and that he will work to destroy it. Of course, there will always be people in any society who wish to have what they haven't earned at the expense of those who have; regardless of what name you give them, those people are nothing more than common thieves.

As for the Democrat/Republican argument, it reminds me of my ex-wife. As long as she controlled the spending, our kids got to go to Six Flags and eat at McDonalds five times a week; they got to buy designer jeans and go to parties. Mom would put off paying bills or getting new brakes on the car, to keep the kids happy. But, when mean old dad took over the finances, he spent money on changing the oil in the car, catching up the bills mom hadn't paid, and getting vaccinations for the kids.......and the kids weren't able to have all that fun stuff like when mom had the checkbook. Now, I suppose, if you asked my kids, "Which parent was better at spending the money?", mom would win the vote, hands down. Of course, they're just kids; they don't understand that, had their mom not wasted money hand over fist during her time of control, then times wouldn't have been so hard during dad's control. Sadly, it appears there are many adults who have as much trouble understanding economics as my children had.
