I didn't actualy say that they did detatch and recouple in the anime I said that they recouple in Shoji Kawamori's designs for the VF1, and they do. And since both the Valkyries in the anime and the Yamato Valkyries are based on Kawamori's designs, my previous point is valid.

As for point 2, I didn't even mention the likes of God Magnus, Omega Supreme etc etc, I don't see how they apply to anything. I simply pointed out that in Shoji Kawamori's designs the VF1's legs do detach, a controled detachment or recouple if you like, but nevertheless as you put it they do rip a part of an reasemble it.
