I completely understand how you feel since I was there too. My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety and I felt like I lost my perfect baby. I blamed myself asking, "What did I do to make her an anxious wreck???" As an educator myself I think I was even tougher on myself as if I shouldn't be having a child with these problems. I think it is just the natural progression of coming to terms with the situation. We still struggle since now after 4 years of being medically treated for ADHD she is no better and I am wondering if the diagnosis was incorrect and now am looking into assessments for dyslexia, again feeling like a failure that as a 1st grade teacher I should know what all the signs are and I feel like I am at a loss. Hang in there---your love for your child will shine through as you accept and work to help your child!
