My son (age 8) was in Sylvan for 9 months before we found out he is dyslexic. It helped tremendously with his reading comprehension; however, it did nothing for his spelling. Sylvan is not equipped to use teaching methodology for dyslexic children, but I feel it did keep my son from getting behind at school in reading. The Sylvan teacher was one of the people who really encouraged me to test my son for dyslexia.
