Hi Claire,

Although I can understand how frustrating that may be, my daughter did not "keep up" AT ALL.

Schools generally have very limited budgets and resources. They have what little they have to focused on the kids who still *aren't* thriving.

My daughter did not "pass" first grade, she was sent to summer school, still no where near the passing level. just now, at the end of the 2nd grade she can read an EARLY first grade level book. (barely). Yet through multiple IQ tests she's in the 130s.

Although in talking to her, you'd never guess how much she struggles reading. Last year (before getting into the program) she was a assigned a few people to work with her. Every new person thought they'd be able to "catch right up" because in talking to her you'd never know how hard it is for her to read/decode/write. She's a very good listener, she is mature for her age and a very good direction follower.

After much testing Dyslexia was the diagnosis (which I'd suspected all along).

Around here, schools only have a few people to figure out what's going on with the kids who aren't doing well school.

They do not have the resources to get to the kids that are coping.

I know your child is having problems, but if they are passing, the school will likely not have the budget to address it. I am not trying to diminish the struggles you have, but keep in mind kids who aren't "keeping up"...
