A 504 is an accomodation based on a disability and is very general according to federal law. An IEP requires the school to submit reports, and holds them more accountable to meet educational goals for your child. I found after 10 years, that the school system tries to limit the number of children with IEP's due to the mountains of paperwork required by their staff. You must call a meeting and request an IEP. Bring an advocate with you that is familiar with the Federal IEP and 504 laws.
