I am very lucky that our district does have a dyslexia program. My daughter was also tested by the state authority and given the medical dx dyslexia... thankfully we have had some good resources. it's still very hard though. even though She is in the program it's like everything is normal now. Reading and writing are so hard for her. the program is helping, but it's not a miracle "cure".
And i totally what you mean.. I honestly don't know how kids of less fortunate families get the help they need. I have had to spend a lot of time, energy AND MONEY to get my daughter to where we are now. In a different family (or day and age) she would have been labeled stupid and that was that.
