I understand how you feel the public school system will not say your child is dyslexic, because it is a medical diagnosis. They would never give me advice where to get help for my child or tell me about any tutors. They would just say learning disabled and we never seen any child as severe as yours. What I did was I went to my family doctor and he told me about Pine Rest they do Psychological Testing and after the testing I have a 6 page report saying suggestive of profound language processing difficulties and apparent dyslexia. I am not sure where you are located but there is help out there just keep researching on the internet. Also, the school said they never heard of SLD it is Specialized Language Development Center that teaches The Orton-Gillingham Approach. Orton-Gillingham teaches structured phonics and a knowledge of spelling rules and generalizations in a multisensory way. So maybe this information will kind of help you. I just wish someone would have told me where to get the help my child needed sooner. Good Luck to you this is what I did to get help for my child.
