Continue to trust your instincts, they are your best guide. Take an advocate and ask for accomodations. My 8th grade son gets typed class notes, extended time for tests and assistance with instructions whenever he asks. This is in his 504 plan and the teachers sometimes have to be reminded, but it has been very helpful. He is in average classes and does struggle at times. The amount of reading required for 8th grade has increase significantly and will only continue to increase in high school. You have to get as much as you can for your child.
