Thanks for responding back to me your information is very helpful. I just recently had his IEP and suggested bringing a advocate but the director of special ed. said she would be there. I so wish I would have had a advocate there the assistant principal was so rude when I asked some questions he said if you want to discuss that we will have to do it at a later date lets move on next. I am thinking about calling a advocate and maybe having another meeting if the advocate feels needed so. I did say no to putting him in a self-contained classroom. I visited this classroom and it would not be the correct place for my child I know his reading level is low but they need to help make accomodations and teach him also. I am really trying to do the best for my child but its hard figuring out all this information when you don't know all of your rights and make wrong decisions because you were not told correctly on where your child is being placed.
