Hi Gretchen,
I am a teacher and one idea I have found useful is to hold after school homework classes/clubs. Here students get hands on help from teachers with classwork/homework they are experiencing difficulties with.
I would suggest you approach your son's school and ask about the possibility of this happening or whether this is already happening.
I am a little concerned the school is sending home worksheets for a dyslexic student. Once again, I would contact the school and ask if there is something more accessible to your son that would require less input from you after a hard day at work.
Although it is good if you can engage with your son at home it is important to remember that you are only human and indeed you have done your day's work and are not expected to then come home and do tuition.
Dawn.
