Dear Rachel,
I am a licensed educational psychologist with 35 years experience in the diagnostic assessment of learning disorders. There is a standard test battery which must be administered in order to make an accurate diagnosis of dyslexia, and of course an IQ test is an essential component in that the nonverbal and verbal IQ discrepancy is one of the diagnostic markers for language specific learning disability, of which dyslexia is a particular form. Your son needs to be re-evaluated by a qualified professional.
