Hi Alyssa

I can totally appreciate all the questions that you have listed. My daughter is now 10 and was diagnosed as dyslexic just over a year ago.

My daughter still gets her numbers and letters the wrong way round. I think coping strategies such as picturing 'bed' helps.

I personally do not think that every error should be pointed out when doing his homework is a good idea - he will lose his confidence and esteem and anxiety will set in (which, from experience with my daughter, is horrendous).

When my daughter reads and struggles over the word I read them for her. I think that getting the flow is really important. Does your son seem to struggle with the 'little' words - there, could, in, was etc - a typical dyslexic trait?

My daughter is still struggling with her 2 and 3 time tables. Particularly difficult as her younger sister has mastered all her times table. memorization practice has not helped with her, but we are practicing her 3 times table every day, and she now know when she has made a mistake which is a big improvement.

I have done a lot of research, and we are going to do the Davis Correction Method in about 6 weeks - I'm hoping this may help!

Good luck getting your son the help he needs

Dawn
