In some ways the student may catch up, but they are falling behind each and every day. Then each grade he is in, becomes more and more difficult untill when they reach college and it can seem impossable to even compeat.

It is best to try to get the help you can as soon as you can, so to close this gap and even get him to start passing his grade level expectations. Again college is a beast and the sooner you start to over prepair him for college the easier it will be. It is not just enought to just get him to pass in public school because the gap between public school and college is just too great.

As far as help, you need to start learning the laws on your son's disability rights, so you can better fight for them. The school are required to accomidate reasonable and nessacarly to not just your son's specific disability, but also how it specificaly affects him. He has a right to be in a learning enviorment that is least discriminative to him.

The schools will argue this and that to prevent giving your son the help he needs, all the while making it sound as their argument is based on what the law states. In fact they grocelly misrepresent the law and used each part in an opposit way. This is why you need to know what it saids first hand.

You can find the laws by either googling The Justice Department, and then Public Law 94-142, Public Law 99-457, American Disability Act, and The Rehabilition Act Section 504. Of you can write your Senitor or Congress man/woman and request copies of all the laws pertaining to education. That is what I did and was sent copies from the Justice Department of the laws, and the interpritation of the laws.

Even though you do learn the law, it will still be an up hill battle, because the schools will most likely still fight you every step of the way.
