You really worded that well, you know you do have some writing talent. Felt like I was reading a magazine article, that's cool.
And Yes, I do know of some happenings that are gun related.
Both are very sad and I remember them well.
Back in Emporia, in 1987, I had a downstairs neighbor who was very troubled, had lost his job, and our landlord was very sympathetic towards him, but we both noticed a "spiraling out of control" factor in his life. His mom would sometimes come by seeing if we had seen him or would ask how he was doing, he hadn't been in touch with her and she felt he was isolating himself, on another occasion, I was freaked when I came home and found the main living room window shattered and glass all over the porch, he came out and I asked him if he was ok, he said he "accidentally" broke it, I went in and saw furniture overturned and things broken, turns out he had had a huge fight with his ex business partner.
It was about three days later his mother came over and informed me and my landlord who was there doing repairs that her son had gone to the local zoo late at night and shot himself, he was found in his pickup the next day. I'll never forget that.
The second involved a man who tried to kill himself, shot himself in the face, but it didn't work, and very similar to the story you related, he was very disfigured and has been through many operations and such trying to restore his facial bones and such. In his case, it was a deliberate attempt but he made his life so much worse.
Well, I'm depressing myself, so I'll close but just wanted to share.
Hope you're doing ok,
Peace,
Bill
