Jonathon,
As painful as your life feels right now, I get the feeling you are on the cusp of a new beginning. It hurts like hell when we realize that the old way did not work, the old people maybe did not work and we have to start over. And yes, we do feel like kids again, VERY vulnerable. Take real good care of yourself right now... only do what is necessary for your physical survival... work, eat, sleep.
And don't forget, the disease of depression makes our brain think that all hope is lost. It is not true. Depression messes up the thinking process.
