Subject: To those who are under work stress or contemplating finding other jobs....

These days so many of us are caught up in our own life's survival, there is a narrow view of just how bad things are in this country. For instance, when talking of my job search at church and people seem confused or surprised that competition is fierce for jobs.
As of today, they are saying by years's end, 2 million people will have lost their jobs in finance, casinos, airlines, technology, internet, factories, retail, and other areas.
I left a shaky job and can't have regrets over it, I talked with a former co-worker via phone the other night and my former facility is in danger of closing, I hurt for what those residents, families, and my former co-workers are going through.
At the same time, it was an absolute shocker upon relocating to find a job market just absolutely flooded with people looking for work, a job service center just crammed wall to wall with people every day, it reminded me of an airport around Thanksgiving.
What I'm saying is that if you've got stress in your job, consider very carefully if it's manageable, please do not take the "I'm giving notice" out of anger, I've been in that one. CAREFULLY weight the options before making a move, for I guarantee you without the security of having a well defined secured position, you could find yourself in my position so easily and be shocked and dismayed and depressed at just how much effort, patience, and determination it takes to find another job successfully, I will not lie to you, I went from being an Administrative Assistant to being a nearly 40 year old restaurant busboy, but NEVER have I been so thankful to score work. I think more people at higher levels of employment who have been laid off or quit their jobs will face the ugly reality of taking survival work. I hope they can have the same appreciative nature that I am trying to possess.
Sure, it would have been great moving to another office position as I'd hoped, but after what I've seen in just this area alone and what I've found through research, I guess in a nutshell please every day you feel stress, reflect and be thankful you have work, as I said, if there's stress that's getting to you and yet you feel your job is a secure one, do whatever it takes to work it through, and if considering quitting, try to find secured work if there is such a thing anymore.
This country is NOT in good shape and I mean outside the ramifications of the terrorist attacks like some tend to think it is.
Thanks for listening,
Bill
