Speaking as one who grew up in rural settings with no really close neighbors, up until the past few years....there's nothing like it. When the nights are cooler, you can turn off the air and open windows at night and listen to the crickets, etc. I love it. For the past couple years I've lived in housing developments, apartment complexes, etc. That's ok...but I can't wait to find a house in a rural setting and have all that quiet. I don't think anyone will bother you out there. Scott was there for a couple years and never had a problem at all.

Hope you don't see any fire ants. I really don't know what they look like, but I was thinking they were bigger than the ones Scott was talking about...but maybe not. I'd have to do a search online and see.

I did find out that we have armadillos here. I thought that was a Texas, Arkansas thing...but after seeing several along the road that had had a run-in with a car, I figured out that they are here. I wasn't sure I was seeing what I thought I was. Did research on that one. Seems they like the sandy, rocky area of Texas but in the East, they like the pine forests and SC has lots of those.

Gonna read your other post now :)
