Parker, Parker.

You're right. People recognize that you're willing to do things that they aren't, and they use you to do those things when they want them done and then criticize you when they don't. You get the shaft from people who want to look down on you. Shame on us. Shame on me.

As for my "righteous crusade," I'll tell you why you aren't included in it. You are not a bad person. I have a lot of respect for you, and I care about you. Very much.

You've seen things that I can't even imagine. You've lived through things that would make curl up and weep. I could never walk the lonely journey you have trod, and so I could never judge you, and I haven't been trying; I've been trying to express concern for you. This was just my stupid, insensitive way of doing it. So please, listen to what I have to say. I'm not asking you to agree with me, but you can at least listen.

Were you there when Sarah heard what had happened to her attackers? Did it ease the sickening pain and disgust that her raper left her with? Justice isn't a virtue, you know, it's a myth. It's an endless cycle of pain and dispair that continues until it reaches someone courageous enough to forgive.

This bitterness you hide, it seeps into your soul and it steals your joy. Don't let it be all you know.

Let it go.

Much love,
Cliff
