As a group that consults with newspapers on this issue, we are very confident that advances in technology has improved quality, but, unfortunately, improvements in quality have not been matched by improvements in how to use the technology. In fact, newspaper managers have bought the technology under the assumption that LESS knowledge and skill was necessary to explot it (the technology). Time has proven this not to be the case. In fact, managing the technology at the front line (where the work is done) is more important now than it was 30 years ago. --Owen Smith Associates
