Hello listers:

After searching for nearly a year, this week I found my dream machine and purchased it. I am now the proud owner of a 1957 Intertype C-4 with Star Quadder. This machine is one of the last black ones, before Harris Intertype switched to the gray color in 1958.

I haven't cast any slugs yet, but have the machine wired and have cycled it several times. All seems fine. I'll probably try some casting in a couple of weeks.

I haven't operated an Intertype for 35 years, since I was in college and worked as a Lino operator for a local weekly newspaper. So, I've got a lot of "refreshing" to do, but I am sure I will enjoy every minute of it!

Moving ther machine was quite a bit easier than I expected. When I picked the machine up, in Lindsay, Ont. (about 75 miles east of Toronto) the owner of the print shop had a forklift, so it was lifted easily on to my open utility trailer. It took me about two hours to strap it down and wrap it (in case of rain, which I didn't go through on the way home). Unloading at my home was equally easy, as I constructed a large patio "pad" just outside my walk-out basement which has the same deck height as my trailer. I rolled my pallet jack under the Intertype and rolled it right off, and into its final position in my shop.

I'm glad winter is right around the corner . . . I can get out of working in the yard, and get in some serious Intertype play time!
