I don't know if you've solved your problem already, but I thought this may help. When I had bought my Pianocorder about 1980 The sustain would stay on continuously. I'm not sure what was going on inside or if it was an overheating problem. The fellow I bought it from Milt Depew, here in Cleveland also serviced them. He put some petroleum jelly on the solenoid and the sustain has worked fine for 20 years.
