It's a sync problem. Play a song, wait for it to stop, then turn the control labeled 50k slowly clockwise until it starts to play then just a touch more. The free running multilvibrator has drifted so far that when it is not in sync for awhile it can't reaquire the signal. I've seen this happen often. There is no decent calibration of those two controls except with an oscilloscope. I've devised a procedure using a scope that seems to work, but this should do it. There never was a procedure in the manual for it.

Carl
