 Actually you don't need to canabalize an old tape deck for this spring post repair. It is much more effective to replace the broken Plastic spring post with a New metal post that won't break in the future. I have also had success in repositioning the tails of the springs to avoid the need for the spring post. As a Technician and installer of many units, I regularly run into this problem and successfully repair many deck each month. Contact me and I can give you additional details
