I was just about convinced that I wasn't going to get Mark Fontana's pluggin for Winamp to work. Lots of keyhits with lots of skipping and missed notes.
Well, the wife and kids were away today and I started playing with it. The trick for me was making adjustments on WINAMPS's EQ in the 6 and 12k range, along with volume adjustments along with way. After about 2 hours of tinkering I think I got it right.
All I can say is WOW! I started downloading from some of the recommended sites and it's quite amazing that you can download an entire song in about 5 seconds and play it immediately. I still can't get over it.
IF anyone else has a problem initially, try playing with the EQ in WINAMP.
If anyone has more suggestions for sites to download songs please share them with me. MOst of the sites Mark recommends are ragtime stuff, and I really like it, but I'd like to find other stuff as well. For example, can I get any Beatles songs? How about some good honky tonk?
Please advise if you can.
