Let's get the facts straight here. Lower Cape May has absolutely no talent in their program, yet Holden has them competing in almost every game because of the slow-down control-tempo style that the team plays. Matt Betz could be talented, but he has cost them at least 2-3 wins simply with his boneheaded decisions (such as the technical foul against EHT). On top of that, Betz's father is absolutely nuts, as witnessed by when he went after a referee at the end of the Wildwood game last year. Jeff Palmer and Mike Goldstein are nice kids -- very nice kids -- but let's face it, they wouldn't be starters for any other high school program in the CAL, and that includes Wildwood and Vineland, two teams that Lower beat. The biggest problem is that many in this generation of kids simply can't relate to Holden's traditional, no-nonsense style of coaching. You give Pat Holden the kind of talent Middle Township or even Wildwood Catholic has every year and he'll turn them into a South Jersey or state champion.
