Calypso: I brought him to his stall, groomed him & tacked him up, then led the black stallion to the outdoor jumping arena. The jumps were set from 4'-6" to 5 feet high.I brought one of the jumps down to 3 feet as a warm up fence.I mounted Calypso & quickly warmed him up.Then I jumped him over the 3 foot warm-up fence a few times. Then I started my stop watch & the jumper course.Calypso raced to the first jump, but with a firm grip on the reins, I kept him a at a quick but controlled pace so he wouldn't race over the jump & knock rails.Calypso jumped the 4'-6" oxer with ease & was very flexible when I made a tight turn with him to a 5 foot single.I let him speed up for the 5'-6" coop, he flew over it, with amazing agility & a giant leap.I jumped him over a fake brick wall, a liverpool, a swedish oxer, a rolltop jump, a triple jump, a combination of three 5'-3" fences & a giant 4" spread of 5 feet.I galloped Calypso to the last jump & he soared high over the 5 foot single, I raced him past the finish point, & stopped my stop-watch.Calypso had done the 14 jump course in exactly 60 seconds!!! That was a amazing time for a 14-jump course, especially when the jumps were so high that youy couldn't make super tight turns without knocking a rail.I patted Calypso on the neck & walked him out, the big Holsteiner stallion had done a great job jumping that course of 14 fences.I untacked him, gave him 2 carrot, and tunred out the stallion in his large, private paddock.
Firefly: I brought Firefly out of the pasture & up to her stall. The 8 y/o mare was now muscular & fit.I had used her as a broodmare for a while, but now I was going to put her back in training.Firefly was my 3rd horse.I had owned other horses before Firefly, Miss Congeniality & Calypso, but after moving to FC, They were the first horses I had there.Firefly breathed on my hair, & whuffed it.I giggled & patted the chestnut mare on the nose.Firelfy had a very close bond with me.I had bought her when she was 3 & had trained her from then on.Firefly had known me for 5 years of her life, & had come to almost treat me as her foal & companion. She had protected me when another mare tried to bite me in the pasture, & always watched out for me.She would whinny @ me whenever I passed, & loved me very much if horses know what loving a creature is.I groomed her & tacked her up.Then I led her to the indoor arena & warmed her up quickly.I cantered Firefly in a courtesy circlew & headed her to the first single of the first line of the 3'-6" hunter course I was about to jump her over.Firefly cleared the jump with ease, with her knees tucked up & even in a perfect bascule.I cantered Firefly 5 strides, & she jumped over the second fence of that line, a green painted oxer,I jumped her over the rest of the course, & then jumped it in the other direction.Firefly did that perfectly, so I ended on a good note & walked her out, then I untacked her, fed her a treat & put her in the mares pasture.
Fiery Miss: I tacked up the Holsteiner filly & brought her to the riding arena where I mounted her.I walked & trotted Missy around some, then walked her into the round pen.I cued her for a canter, & she leaped ahead into a fast canter.I slowed her down to a trot, she had th wrong lead.I got Missy to canter on the right lead, then cantered her for a bit. Then I reversed her & cantered in the other direction on the right lead.Missy was doing excellent, so I decided to canter her in the arena. She was very good, though she bucked a few times when I cantered her. Then I walked her out & untacked her, fed her a apple & truned her out in the pasture.
