........I walked into the barn and I looked around at all my stables. Forever creek stables really had become something over the years. I walked around and tidied up a bit. Today the inspector from the fantail humane was coming in to make sure the stables were up to date and give me some tips on breeding. I am going to start breeding properly now. I had breed a few foals but now I was going to make it business. But before he came I was going to exercise my stallions and a few mares if I had the time. So here is how my rides went: -

Patriot:
Amanda and I tacked patriot up and lead him into the lunging arena. I clipped on the lunging rope and I set him off at a walk. After warming him up I told Amanda to take off his saddle. I was going to get her to back him without it first, as he would use any excuse to be naughty. So I held his bridle while Amanda rested herself on his back. He was behaving so far so I gave my 15-year-old a leg up so she was on his back. At this point patriot did something I would never had expected him to do...He ignored her. He took no notice of her even when I lead him around at a walk and trot. I left it there for today and I asked Amanda to give him extra feed and a good groom.

Spice:
Today I worked spice with the water jump in the cross-country course and I gave him a good gallop across the fields. He loved the freedom of the gallop and I had a hard job pulling him up at the end of it. But eventually he gave in and I trotted him back him home where I gave him a good groom and I plated and knotted his mane so he looked like a proper show horse when the inspector came. Spice is one of my main stallions at the barn and I think is he one of the prettiest stallions in the world.

Race horses:
Next I groomed all my race horses and I put them in there stalls so they did not tire them selves out because I was going to exercise them properly tomorrow and I was going to decide which races they should go into.

Not Quite Silver “Silva”:
I took him out of his stall, and I worked him on the lunge and I rode him for 10 minutes without his saddle then I rode him for the first time off the lunge with his saddle. He was really good and I praised him lots. After I had dismounted I pulled his mane for the first time. He was a bit fidgety but he did not make any fuss. When I was satisfied with him I took him back to his stall and I gave him his feed.

Perfect:
I bridled him and I walked him out onto the trails. Today I was going to take him on a nice long bareback gallop to get his fitness up. I had noticed that perfect seemed to need a lot more exercise than the rest of my horses to keep fit. I don’t think there is anything wrong with him I just think he just does not put as much effort into everything as my others did. When I got back from the gallop he was very sweaty so I hosed him down then put his sweat rug on him to keep him cool. When he had dried I groomed him so he looked his best.

Glory:
I tacked glory up with the jumping saddle and I lead him into the jumping arena where I put up a mix of 1-foot jumps up. I took him round at a steady pace. He cleared them well but he had a very UN even stride to his jump. On the double, which is 2 strides, he made 4 tiny ones. I left him there for today and I was going to sort him out next session.

M.M (Muscle man):
I tacked mm up in his big western saddle. Mal was meant to be working him as he is co-owned but she has not had time so I decided to work him for her. I worked on his basic western and I did some pole bending with him but he was not very good as he is not that fast. I finished there for the day and I groomed him and put him back into his stall.

Dollar:
Today all I did with dollar was get him used to whips being near him. I needed to do this because at some shows the judges ride your horse and they always carry a whip. If you requested that it would not be used then it wasn’t but I still needed him to get used to me and other people carrying one.

Silky:
I took silky out on a nice calm trail ride. He was very fidgety so I let him gallop slowly for a mile before I cantered him home. When we got home I groomed him and I plated and knotted his mane like Spices. He looked very posh. I wished Mal would see like this, he was lifting his head and tail and trying to say how good he could look.

Cookie:
I lunged cookie quickly today because the inspector was due to come in 10 minutes. I spent the rest of the time until he came, checking everything in the stables and making sure all my horses were fed and bedded down for the night.

All I could do now was sit and wait for the inspector that was going to give me my official breeding licence.
