I eagerly entered the barn and walked straight to Memento’s stall where he was waiting for me… I fed him a carrot and gave him a quick groom before saddling him up and leading him outside… once outside I walked him to the ring and jogged him around once to warm him up, before riding towards the cross country course. I set my watch and then we began. We cantered towards the first fence, a bush fence, and he enthusiastically cleared it by inches! We continued towards the next jump, which was quite difficult as it had a ditch that could not be seen until suspended above the air. However my trusting stallion jumped without a thought and landed safely. After completing the other 10 jumps without a fault we clocked 13 mins, which was a pretty great time for him, in fact 2 mins better than the last time i rode him on the same course. I walked him around for 5 more mins to cool him off, then I gave him a hose down, then a wipe down, fed him another carrot, and put him in his paddock.
