I went into the stallion barn and Free whinnied at me. I smiled and went over to him. He arched his neck proudly when I scratched his neck.

I slowly rode him to the cross-country jumping area. I urged him into a canter. Making sure that it was set up to the height that was needed to him, I gently rode him to the first jump. He sailed over it easily. At the second one, he tried to jump to early, and landed with a jolt on the otherside. I turned him around and tried again. He acted perfectly, and jumped with nice composure. After we got out of the course without further problems, I decided to ride him to the beach. He seemed happy to.

After a refreshing swim in the shallow tide pools, I rode him back.

After I hd unsaddled him and all that stuff, he nibbled at me asking for another ride.
"Sorry, boy. But I'm commiting the day to all my horses, not just you." He huffed and snorted unhappily. I hugged him and walked to see Taste. Taste whickered happily and through his head. I calmed him and he seemd to like the touch of my hands.

I rode him outside to the jumping course. He jumped over the low jumps like they were nothing, so I made them higher. He jumped those with more difficulty, put he got through it.

After I rode him down the trail to a natural cross-country course. The logs were huge, but he seemed happy and willing to jump them. I urged him into a canter as we came closer to the jump, he gathered himself and jumped it easily. Next was a cold creek. I thought since he had never jumped a creek, he would shy, put he flew over it easily. I rode him back at a slow, lazy walk. When I got back, I groomed him and thought about what I should do when I rode Spring.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I saddled Spring and rode her towards the beach. Dana and I had built a jump course earlier in the week. When we got there, she shied at the water that was lapping at her feet. I gently, but firmly, urged her into the water. After a while she stepped in without fear. I came closer to the place where Dana and I had built it, but saw the water had nocked it away. I sighed and rode her home, she seemed to tired for jumping, anyway.
Boy did my behind hurt when I got home! It was 5:00! Julia was sitting there in a pile of stuff watching TV.
"Hey, Momma! I got you some stuff!" She started to hand me bag, then another, until there were only three bags there for her. Your friend bought you most of it.
I smiled and went into my room to open the stuff.
There were new riding pants, a helmet, and other new clothes. There was a card saying: "Meet me tonight at 8:00 at The Peddler."
I quickly told Julia and she smiled. That was all.
"I'll call Helen to babysit you."
"No, I'll call a babysitter-not that Helen is mean-that I like." I knew who she would call. Janet's biggest daughter.
"Good!"
I hopped in the massaging bath, and then I put on casual/dressy clothes. I smiled in the mirror and left for my car. It was 7:30.
