WHOA!!! Tally is only 8 months old, & is not even broke to saddle yet so you should NOT be riding her as she is WAY to young & is still to small to be ridden!! & Jersey is only 1 1/2 years old, so she is stilll to young to be ridden also!!! I know people break Racehorses real early to saddle, but it is different with horses that don't race! You start by teaching a horse groundmanners, like be groomed, tieing, loading into a trailer, bathing, clipping etc. etc. when they are weanlings or yearlings. When they are close to 2 years old, you start them on the lunge line, when they are 2, you break them to tack first, then you break them to a rider, etc. etc.The reason you don't jump a horse even if they are broken to a rider at the age of 3 is because the bones in there legs are still somewhat soft, so you could ruin a horse for life by jumping it at such a young age.You should not start teaching a horse to jump at all until they are 4 years old. Also, when Tally didn't canter for you, you should have made her canter, then walked her out.Ending a ride on a bad note with a horse in training is a bad idea, because they got away with something that they weren't supposed to!

Just helping,
Dana
