I led her into the outdoor jumping arena. The sandy chestnut, Dutch Warmblood mare was eager to go & was very alert."Whao there girl," I said.Dutchess pranced as I led her to the middle of the arena. She took off once I put a lunge line on her & she had moved aways away from me.I slowed Dutchess to a walk, pulling on the lunge line, once Dutchess had walked for a while, I let her trot & canter. Then, I unhooked the lunge line from Dutchesses' bridle & led her over to the mounting block.I swung into the saddle & sat.Dutchess pawed the ground with her hoof, she was to well behaved to just run off, but she wanted to go.I just had to lightly press my legs against her sides and she walked right off.I warmed up Dutchess @ a walk & asked her to trot.Dutchess went into a light, balanced springy trot.I sat easily to her smooth trot, & then started posting. After I had trotted Dutchess for a bit in both directions, I cued her to canter.Dutchess broke into a fast, rolling canter.I cantered Dutchess in both directions & did a few flying lead changes.I walked Dutchess over to the gate & then got her to pick up a fast canter. We sped towards the first jump.I slowed her down just slightly & she flew over the 2'-6" oxer.I made a wide turn with her to a coop & then made a quick turn to a 2'-3" cross-rail.I changed direction with Dutchess & she did a perfect flying lead change when I cued her to.I slowed her down for a combination made up of a single, a oxer & a triple.Dutchess ended up chipping over the single, but she didn't clip a rail.1, 2, 3 jump! Dutchess easily took the oxer & cantered on to the triple.Dutchess made a big jump & flew over the triple. We changed direction again to jump over a liverpool & kept going on to jump a fake brick wall.I let Dutchess hand gallop, & she leaped over the last jump, a blue & green striped single.I let Dutchess gallop faster, & passed the gate, I slowed the big sandy chestnut mare to a canter, then a trot, & finally a walk.I patted Dutchess and cooed to her "your such a good girl!" I did the course one more time with Dutchess, & then dismounted & set one of the singles to 2'-9".I got back on Dutchess and pushed her into a canter. We cantered to the 2'-9" fence & Dutchess chipped going over it.She hadn't expected a bigger height and accidently knocked a rail.I slowed her down to a walk, and then got her to pick up a canter again. This time, Dutchess didn't chip & leaped over the single fence.I then dismounted & set up a line of 2'-9" jumps.I got Dutchess to canter in a courtesy circle & rode her to the first jump.Dutchess leaped over it, & picked up speed.I slowed the chestnut mare down a touch & went into 2-point as she jumped over the 2'-9" oxer.I cantered Dutchess over that line 2 more times & then walked her out.I dismounted & led Dutchess back to her stall. After untacking the pretty Dutch Warmblood, I hosed her off, & turned her out after giving her a carrot for her good work. Then I walked back up to the house.
