I groomed Chica's golden coat till she shone. I tacked her up in her newly cleaned saddle and bridle. I led her into the ring and mounted. We warmed up slowly before going into a sitting trot and canter. We did some simple dressage patterns in various gaits, practicing transitions and halts. Her turns are sharp and by the end of the ride her transitions were smooth and beautiful, especially trot to canter. We finished off with two 20 m circles going around in a walk to trot to sitting trot to canter, then back to trot, traveling to the other circle and repeating. This exercies control, circles, and transitions. She performed them beautifully with out the slightest hesitation! I knew she was ready for her show and I was looking forward to riding her in it! I returned her to her stall, untacked her and brushed her down, kissing her on her golden nose. "Good work, hon!" I said as I walked to Shooting Star's stall. "Hey handsome!" I said as I walked into the firy chestnut's stall. I gave him a quick brush and tacked him up. As I led him into the ring he whinnied in excitement. The jumps were set up and he couldn't wait! I warmed him up gently, so he wouldn't over exert himself too soon. We went into a trot, then canter around the ring, before clearing each jump with wonderful precision. By the last ones he was losing his concentration, so I worked him in circles for a bit before attempting again. This time he performed the jumps flawlessly, easily clearing up to 3'! He would have no trouble at the show and it would be a pleasure to ride him! I led him into the crossties and untacked and brushed him before putting him into his stall. "Good ride Star!" I told him as I walked away, wishing I could stay.
