Susan and Helen walked out to the paddock and got Belle. They tacked her up and led her to the arena. The pretty TB/QH had turned 2 a few weeks ago and had been lunged with tack for 4 months now. She was ready to be broken to saddle today. Susan lunged the filly for 30 minutes at walk, trot, and canter and was pleased with the mare�s movement. She halted her and set up a mounting block beside her. Helen stood on it and Susan held Belle, patting her reassuringly. Helen leaned lightly on the filly�s back and put one foot in the stirrup. Belle snorted and sidestepped nervously, but saw it was Helen and relaxed a bit. Helen leaned heavier on Belle�s back and slowly, gently swung into the saddle. Belle halfway reared and pranced about nervously, sweat breaking out on her flawless chestnut coat. After 20 minutes, Belle was more relaxed with Helen on her back and was being led around the ring by Susan. After a few minutes, Helen dismounted and led the mare to the barn
