Belle Of The Ball(Belle)
2y/o Filly,by Fire(see top of page)out of Beauty(see Susan's member page).She is a chestnut,TB QH cross.Will probably reach 15.1-16hh high.She is very sweet and always ready to play. broken to saddle. She has unlimited potintial for a star dressage, jumping & 3-day-eventing horse! I may also choose to train her in some western events, but only maybe. Sweet and Playful!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Susan and Helen walked out to the paddock and got Belle. They tacked her up and led her to the arena. The pretty TB/QH had turned 2 a few weeks ago and had been lunged with tack for 4 months now. She was ready to be broken to saddle today. Susan lunged the filly for 30 minutes at walk, trot, and canter and was pleased with the mare’s movement. She halted her and set up a mounting block beside her. Helen stood on it and Susan held Belle, patting her reassuringly. Helen leaned lightly on the filly’s back and put one foot in the stirrup. Belle snorted and sidestepped nervously, but saw it was Helen and relaxed a bit. Helen leaned heavier on Belle’s back and slowly, gently swung into the saddle. Belle halfway reared and pranced about nervously, sweat breaking out on her flawless chestnut coat. After 20 minutes, Belle was more relaxed with Helen on her back and was being led around the ring by Susan. After a few minutes, Helen dismounted and led the mare to the barn
AFTER A MONTH...
Helen led her Filly Belle into the barn and clipped her into crossties. She groomed her glossy chestnut coat and tacked her up. She led her out to the arena and atched the lunge line to her bridle. Belle walked an accurate circle around Helen. Helen flicked the whip at Belle’s Heels and Said” TROT”. Belle moved forward in an elegant trot. After Helen had lunged her for 10 minutes she took her over to the mounting block and swung into the saddle. Belle jumped into a trot giving a quick buck. Helen smiled and talked softly to her as she settled her into a flowing walk. She walked her around the arena twice each getting her comfortable. Then she asked for a trot. Belle obliged with a springy gait that carried horses and rider around the arena at a fast pace. Helen worked on keeping her relaxed like she had been taught in the last month. Then after 10 more minutes of trotting she asked for canter. She gently slid her outside leg back and squeezed firmly. Belle flew forward in a rocking canter. Helen sat lightly in the saddle as she guided belle on a 20 meter circle. Then she came back to trot and changed rein, working on some canter the other way. After a good work out Helen led the filly back into the barn. VERY satisfied with Belle’s progress! Soon she would be starting the filly’s dressage and jumping training! :-)
