When you are in DOS, your drive will be shifted due to the creation of the ramdrive. So if your CDROM was d:, it will become E:. But you should still be able to access it through MSDOS. Were you able to type "dir" and get a directory listing when you were at the CDROM drive? Basically, is the CDROM being recognized at all? It really shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not it is slave or master.

You might try other letters (f:, g:, etc.) and trying to get a directory from those drives.
