GILES turns around.

WHITE
I didn’t realise you’d been assigned to this
operation. I would have contacted you had I
known.

GILES
[a little distracted by Seth]
What? Oh.. I wasn’t.

WHITE
Wasn’t?

GILES
Assigned to the situation. Not by the Council,
anyway. Things just ended up… coming my
way.

WHITE
Well, thank you anyway. We were having a hell
of a time tracking her down.

GILES removes his glasses and starts to characteristically clean them, looking down.

GILES
Yes, I shouldn’t wond…

Pause. Something dawns on GILES.

GILES
[confused, replacing his glasses]
Don’t you mean ‘him’?

GILES looks up, but WHITE is gone.

Suddenly, there is a shriek behind him. GILES turns around to see several WATCHERS pushing EMILY into a van. WHITE and the 3rd WATCHER jump in and close the doors, just before it drives away.

GILES runs after them, but it is too late.

He and Seth stand separately in the street as the sun glistens on the wet road.
