Season VII: Stone Cold
The FEMALE VAMPIRE stands in front of BUFFY.

FEMALE VAMPIRE
Your sacrifice will not be in vain. With the slayer
gone the Mother can arise.

BUFFY
All this… for your mother?


Season VII: Resonance
SPIKE rips a pipe loose from the wall. A hissing noise is heard as gas leaks from the broken pipe.

SPIKE throws the WHINY VAMPIRE out of the building and the vampire slumps to the base of the wall outside.

Turning to the vampires inside the building, SPIKE nonchalantly lights a match with his now free hands and tosses it into the building. An explosion of blue flames dusts the vampires.

SPIKE
(conversationally, as if nothing had happened)
...I only really need one of you to spread the word.
(turning to the MINION)
And you'll do that, won't you, sonny-boy? Let everyone know
that if anyone so much as thinks of having a taste of the
Little Bit, they'll have to answer to me. Got it?


Season VII: Stone Cold
BUFFY and XANDER are in the training room. BUFFY very slowly lowers her face towards XANDER's.

WILLOW
[Voice-Over]
Previously on Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

ANYA
[Off-Screen]
Sure hasn't taken you long to move on has
it Xander!


Season VII: Stone Cold
ANYA and XANDER talk.

ANYA
Where I've been... It has given me time to think.
To realise what I could be losing... I want us back
Xander.

XANDER
I don't know if I feel the same way anymore

ANYA
Because I slept with Spike?

XANDER
Because of us.

There is silence.

ANYA
I love you.

XANDER
And I don't know if I love you.


Season VII: Dissonant
We see BUFFY approach the Double Meat Palace.

BUFFY
[Voice-Over]
The place is an offshoot of a hell dimension.
It's where hell dimensions go when they've
been bad.


Season VII: Dissonant
BUFFY talks to the manager of the Double Meat Palace.

BUFFY
I quit.


Season VII: Dissonant
BUFFY and WILLOW talk in the kitchen.

WILLOW
Come back to college with me. I need the
study buddy.

BUFFY
I can't. I would really love to, but I have...
responsibilities.


Season VII: Dissonant
SPIKE tries to talk to BUFFY in the cemetery.

SPIKE
[Calls after her]
You trusted Angel.
[Pause]
Was it because he had a soul?

BUFFY
Please. Soul has nothing to do with it. Warren had a
soul... Willow has a soul... and look at what they did.
Trust is earned, and you don't get bonus points for souls.


Season VII: Resonance
ANYA hugs XANDER in the hospital corridor.

SPIKE
[Voice-Over]
Only something that can make you truly happy
can make you truly miserable.


Season VII: Dissonant
SPIKE and ANYA talk in the Bronze.

ANYA
You can't switch between
demon and human, just like that.
[Continued]
If I willingly broke the contract...
[Pause]
I cease to exist.

SPIKE
So, there's got to be some reason…


Season VII: Dissonant
ANYA stands in the 'Magic Box' holding her amulet.

ANYA
[Voice-Over]
Sometimes D'Hoffryn grants your last wish…

She's holding her amulet in her hand and looking at it. Suddenly, she slams her other fist into it. It shatters into a cloud of gold dust.

ANYA
I wish that Xander loved me.

The gold dust turns into a shock wave that slams through the shop.


Season VII: Dissonant
ANYA jumps on XANDER, wrapping her legs around his waist and starts kissing him.

ANYA
(in between kisses)
I love you... so much... and I want you...

XANDER backs up into a wall, which gives him the leverage he needs to get his arms between himself and ANYA, and pry her off.

XANDER
What the hell are you doing?

XANDER glares at her.

XANDER
You made a wish?

ANYA watches XANDER exit the apartment. She looks distraught.

D'HOFFRYN steps out of the shadows. He looks genuinely sympathetic.

ANYA
So, you didn't grant my wish, as a final punishment?

D'HOFFRYN
I did grant your wish… let's just say it wasn't the best thing
you could have used it for.

ANYA
What do you mean?

D'HOFFRYN
The boy has always loved you. I just wish you hadn't
given everything up to find that out.


Season VII: Dissonant
ANYA is about to leave SPIKE at their table. They are in the Bronze.

SPIKE
Changing yourself, changing what you are,
it doesn't always work. Doesn't always
bring you your heart's desire. This might not
change things the way you want them to change.

ANYA
It changed you… your soul. I hope Buffy realises
that someday.


Season VII: Dissonant
XANDER has SPIKE pinned to a wall.

SPIKE
Without her power-centre, she's
going to fade into nothing.


Season VII: Dissonant
ANYA is slumped against the counter in the 'Magic Box'. She is already starting to fade out of existence. XANDER is crouched in front of her.

XANDER
I love you. I never stopped loving you.

ANYA fades again, and XANDER can't keep a hold of her.

ANYA
[Tearful]
Remember me.

XANDER closes his eyes.

XANDER
Always.

ANYA is gone.

BUFFY
What's wrong?

XANDER stands up, but says nothing, still fixated on ANYA's amulet.

As XANDER stands, the camera twists around him to reveal the shop in perfect, undamaged condition behind him.

BUFFY
[looking at the amulet]
What's that?

The bell rings and the door opens again. TARA and GILES run in, panting to catch up with WILLOW and DAWN.

XANDER
[still fixated on the amulet]
I have no idea.


Season VII: Unreality
A flash of lightening. XANDER jumps suddenly.

ANYA
(off-screen)
This is your fault.

XANDER turns around. ANYA stands behind him. Her image is fading in and out.

ANYA
(continued)
I loved you and you made me go away.

XANDER
I'm sorry, I...

ANYA
You made me leave, Xander.

XANDER
So you do know me...

ANYA
I went away...

Another flash of lightening. ANYA disappears. A loud clap of thunder.


Season VII: Unreality
XANDER confronts SPIKE in the cemetery.

XANDER
Why are you following me Spike?

SPIKE
I don't get it. The past few days... it's...
it's like I've done something to hurt
you... but I don't know what it is.


Season VII: Unreality
XANDER rips a page out of a book.

BUFFY
[Voice-Over]
What's wrong, Xan? Why did you take
that page?


Season VII: Unreality
BUFFY is confronting XANDER in the cemetery.

XANDER
To summon Anya.

BUFFY
Anyanka. It's a demon. It infected us
with these false memories. It's meant
to make you suffer like this.

XANDER
No! We don't know that's what happened!
It's just Giles guessing. There's nothing
I've read that even suggests she can do
that!!

He begins to walk off.

BUFFY
So you'll try and summon it. Then what?

XANDER
I don't know!

BUFFY
Then why?

XANDER
Because anything's better than feeling
this gnawing pain... this guilt... for
something I don't even remember doing!
Do you know how much that hurts? Do
you?


Season VII: Unreality
BUFFY is talking to WILLOW, TARA and DAWN.

BUFFY
It's Xander…

BUFFY looks panicked.

BUFFY
[Continued]
I think he's about to try something really
dangerous...


Season VII: Unreality
XANDER is doing an invoking spell in the 'Magic Box'.

TARA
[Voice-Over]
Maybe this is something he needs to
do. Maybe he needs to find the truth.

XANDER
Anyanka! Come before me!

There is a flash of red light that fills the room.

XANDER spins around suddenly. It's D'HOFFRYN.

XANDER
You've been messing with our minds.

D'HOFFRYN
Well… I suppose that would be true.
[Continued]
The magic used to alter reality... it's
breaking down. Something I didn't
anticipate to tell you the truth.

XANDER
Reality?

D'HOFFRYN
You don't think we'd do something as
incomplete as wipe Anya from
existence do you? Anya's done too much
for you all, for me to just do that.
[Pause]
When she left both the reality she lived in
and the memories she left behind had to be…
modified…

XANDER holds a sword to D'HOFFRYN's throat.

D'HOFFRYN
You know, after all you did, she didn't
stop feeling the way she did about you.
Never did quite understand that.

XANDER
She… she loved me...
[Looking up]
And you killed her…

D'HOFFRYN
Not killed.
[Pause]
Wiped. Her essence placed
in the gap between dimensions. A place
where neither time or space exists.
[Beat]
And it was her choice.

XANDER takes a swing. D'HOFFRYN ducks. He pushes XANDER backwards.
XANDER tumbles back. The sword drops to the floor. XANDER hits the table.

The contents are sent in all directions.

The chalice used for the spell smashes against a shelf of flammable magical items. A fire spreads down the whole shelf in seconds.


Season VII: Unreality
WILLOW looks over towards TARA. She smiles sadly. TARA begins to fade in and out. WILLOW'S face turns to one of sheer horror.

WILLOW
Tara... Oh God...


Season VII: Unreality
D'HOFFRYN grabs the sword that XANDER is attacking him with.

D'HOFFRYN
Anya can't be brought back, boy. She's been
wiped. She no longer exists. She did it for
you! I wanted to save you the trauma of
knowing...

XANDER collapses on to the floor utterly distraught.


Season VII: Unreality
Another explosion inside the shop causes the shop's window to explode, the force throwing BUFFY backwards. BUFFY shields her eyes from the flying glass. She turns to face the others who stand by GILES' car.

DAWN
No!

BUFFY
I have to.

BUFFY runs into the shop, keeping low to the ground to avoid the smoke.


Season VII: Unreality
XANDER is sobbing on the floor the raging fire closing in on him.

D'HOFFRYN
[Voice-Over]
I'm sorry. I really am. I wanted to save
you from the pain of remembering
what happened. I didn't quite
realise the considerable effect that
Anya had on you all...

BUFFY grabs XANDER's hand and drags him towards the exit.


Season VII: Unreality
BUFFY and XANDER are on the street outside and in the pouring rain. Another explosion rips part of the shop front apart. They fall to the ground.

BUFFY holds XANDER as he begins to cry.

XANDER
She's gone... We forgot her... She's
gone...

Fire trucks can be heard in the distance.

GILES joins BUFFY and XANDER.

GILES
I'm sorry, Xander.

He reaches to touch XANDER'S shoulder but fades away into nothing.

WILLOW and TARA are standing by the car, holding onto each other for dear life. TARA slowly disappears.

WILLOW
Noooo! Noooo!

DAWN is in absolute shock as only the four scoobies are left.

WILLOW slumps to the ground in tears.

BUFFY holds XANDER as they lay on the ground in each other's arms. While the fire continues to envelop the shop behind them, flashing blue lights light the surroundings as a fire truck pulls up to the scene.


TEASER

Scene: Xander's Apartment [Int.], Night
A flash of lightning momentarily illuminates the room; a clap of thunder soon follows.

Silence.

The camera slowly pans around until the window comes into view. Another flash of lightning reveals XANDER and BUFFY sitting on the window sill.

XANDER's head rests on BUFFY's lap as the slayer gently smoothes XANDER's hair in an attempt to comfort him.

BUFFY watches the rain dribble down the panes of glass behind her; the constant patter of the rain is almost hypnotising.

BUFFY looks down at XANDER. He is asleep.

BUFFY exhales. Resting her head against the window she closes her eyes.


Scene: Cemetery [Ext.], Night
Another flash of lightning.

The background music to this scene lets us realise it is an action scene.

BUFFY is sprinting through the cemetery. It appears as if she is being chased. She checks behind her but she is alone. Looking forward again BUFFY screams.

In front of BUFFY is an ominous figure. They step out of the shadows and reveal themselves as an INDIAN WOMAN.

The woman is in her early twenties. She is very pretty; thin, slight face and small but with muscular build.

BUFFY tries moving backwards but she stumbles over something. From her position on the floor she finds herself surrounded by the graves of her friends and family: Joyce… Tara… Anya… Xander… Willow… Giles… Spike… Dawn...

She looks helpless.

BUFFY
[Panting]
How did this happen?

INDIAN WOMAN
You failed!

BUFFY
[Whimpering]
No!

INDIAN WOMAN
How can the slayer protect the world when she
can't even protect the people she loves?

The INDIAN WOMAN advances on BUFFY.

INDIAN WOMAN
The mother knows who you are slayer! She knows
your strengths.

The INDIAN WOMAN grabs BUFFY by her throat.

INDIAN WOMAN
And she knows your weaknesses!

BUFFY gasps for air.


Scene: Dawn's Room in Summer's House [Int.], Night
DAWN bolts upright while gasping for breath; she clutches her throat tightly. She looks panicked and scared. She has been sweating and she is kinda pale.

With trembling hands she reaches for a glass of water from the table next to her; she gulps the liquid readily.

DAWN stands up and looks around. Another flash of lightning brings light to the room. DAWN moves towards the window. The light dissipates and we see the reflection of BUFFY's face in the window where we would expect DAWN's image to be.

DAWN jumps back.

A second look in the window allows DAWN to see her own reflection. DAWN looks around the room; seeing the door she heads out into the corridor.


Scene: Willow's Room in Summer's House [Int.], Night
DAWN enters the room quietly. She watches silently.

WILLOW is curled up in her bed. She is asleep. By her side there is a picture of TARA.

DAWN looks toward the window.


Scene: Xander's Apartment [Int.], Night
BUFFY continues to rest her head against the window pane.

Suddenly BUFFY opens her eyes.

She looks scared. She clutches at her throat and pants.

BUFFY places XANDER's head onto a pillow and lowers herself off the window sill.

She rubs her arms from the cold while staring at the window. She picks up XANDER's denim jacket and pulls it on. She looks to her friend; he continues to sleep, unaware of the nightmare BUFFY has just endured.

Gently, she kisses XANDER's forehead before leaving the apartment.

The camera stays focused on XANDER. A tear rolls down his cheek.


Scene: Abandoned Factory [Int.], Night
A figure enters the abandoned factory shown in 'Stone Cold' and 'Resonance'. They stride into the centre of the serpent-like infinity symbol on the floor and bend down to pick up and sniff the vampire ashes that covers the ground.

The figure looks up and as a flash of lightning outside illuminates the building, we see the person is the INDIAN WOMAN.

For future reference this is SARIA.

SARIA stands up and storms out of the building.


Scene: Vampire Lair [Int.], Night
The camera pans back on a group of about seven vampires that surround a trash-can fire.

Suddenly there is a huge crash.

The camera swings around. We see the door to the lair has been kicked straight off it's hinges. SARIA stands in the doorway.

Lifting a cross-bow, SARIA shoots a vampire.

SARIA sprints through the building holding a weird looking battle-staff. On one end a wooden pole has been shaven to give a pointed end; the other end of the weapon is basically a metal axe. (NOTE: This weapon has been seen in Joss Whedon's "Fray").

SARIA uses the axe part of the weapon to decapitate a vampire before using the pole to stake another vamp.

She swings the weapon around, decapitating a fourth vampire before rapidly dispatching two more vamps using the stake.

SARIA turns to face the camera. She advances on the final vampire who we recognise as the WHINY VAMPIRE from 'Resonance' (the vampire that SPIKE let go).

SARIA pins the WHINY VAMPIRE against the wall using the long shaft of the weapon.

SARIA
[Creepy]
The Mother… when does she arise?

The WHINY VAMPIRE starts shaking.

WHINY VAMPIRE
[Nervous]
I… I don't know what you're talking about. Honest.

The camera focuses on SARIA's eyes. They look almost psychotic.

SARIA vamps out and plunges her mouth into WHINY VAMPIRE's neck. She feeds greedily as we watch the life drain out of WHINY VAMP's eyes.

SARIA moves off letting WHINY VAMPIRE slide to the floor.

SARIA
That's better.

SARIA shoves the stake into the vampire's chest and WHINY VAMPIRE explodes into dust.

SARIA loses the game face and turns.

The camera pans out as it moves up into the ceiling. We see SARIA storm towards the exit.

SARIA
[Voice-Over]
Now to find your friend.
