• The dragon rears up and back in astonished rage as the dust bursts in her face. The grains create maddening irritation as they catch in the scintillating eyes. Blind anger flooding its senses, the dragon flares its leathery wings, jaws gaping wide in a snarling roar. The air of the cavern heats as the beast prepares to let loose a blast of flame. • Raven digs furiously into the bag and brings out another of the small balls. She steps back and swings her arm to get momentum. The sphere rises into the air in a perfect arch and lands on target straight into the dragons wide open mouth. Like before it explodes upon impact, clogging the throat with dampining dust.   • The cavern is filled with an earsplitting roar, but no fire emits from the gaping mouth. The dragon begins to hack and sputter in an attempt to free it's throat of the imparing dust, but to no avail. It begins to thrash around, stamping in anger and frustration, it's midnight-blue scales glinting in the dim light of the cave. • Raven sprints to the edge of the cave, a bit startled by the violent reaction. She takes a moment to collect her wits and then slowly approaches the dragon again, making calming noises. "Shh, it's okay." Nervously she inches closer, trying to avoid the thrashing limbs. "It will go away in a minute, just calm down." She reaches out and lays a hand on the dragon’s thick hide.   • At first the dragon seems to not notice the girl approaching, still thrashing about in rage and frustration (and nearly hitting Raven in the process). Combination of voice and touch bring the dragon's attention back to the girl. She (it's a girl dragon) swings her head around and focuses one large, slitted eye on Raven. Unable to use flame, the dragon lunges her head at the girl, snapping her massive jaws, but the movement isn't the lightning fast reflex a dragon usually has. (NT) -- Fate, 16:59:01 08/09/02 Fri
• Raven moves out of the way again (on future contemplation she decided it probably wasn't all that smart to get so close to it while it was still thrashing around) and puts both hands on the side of the head, below the eye. "Hey, it's fine." She continues soothingly. "Why don't you come home with me and we can be partners?" She finishes lightly. Raven stares at it, ready to get out of its way if it refuses. • Raven jumps back hurriedly. "What's it going to take?" She grumbles to herself. "I don't want to hurt it!" Backing up even more, she watches the dragon's thrashing.   • The dragon lunged down, diving for Raven with jaws wide just as the rock is released from the sling. It hits right between the beast's eyes, shower dust over both of them. The dragon shrieks with frustration, twistes in mid-lunge, and falls to the earth several yards short of Raven. Blinking furiously, the dragon attempts to focus on the girl, but makes to move toward her. (NT) -- Fate, 15:58:40 09/04/02 Wed
• Raven coughs violently, trying to dislodge the dust from her own throat. Bending down, she waits until her breath returns before trying anything else. Noticing the dragon on the ground, she cautiously walks up to it, stopping in front of its nose and peers intently at it. “Are you done now?” (NT) -- Raven, 18:25:34 09/05/02 Thu

• Raven raises an eyebrow. "What's this? You don't have to be afraid, if that's your problem. I wont throw anymore dust-balls." She steps closer and sits down on the floor. "Look, see? I'll just sit here until you decide to go." (NT) -- Raven, 17:13:34 11/09/02 Sat
  • A few minutes pass as the girl and dragon just look at each other. The dragon suddenly arches her back and neck and flares her wings to make herself appear larger, watching Raven to see what the apparently fearless girl would do.   • Nothing happens for several moments, then the dragon slowly lowers her head toward Raven, until her nose is but a few inches from the girls face. Firey opal eyes meet blue eyes for several more moments, the opals holding a look of curiousness and faint question. For what seems like an eternity, but in reality is but a few seconds, the two lock eyes. Finally, echoing in the deep recesses of Raven's mind - a voice: <i>Nalanei</i>. • Raven grins enormously. "Nalanei? That's great!" She hops up and down excitedly. "What say we head back to Carnerik now, eh?" Nalanei blinks and shifts her scaly shoulders. After a moment of contemplation, she stands up and heads toward the exit, cocking her tail at Raven as she passes as if beckoning the girl to follow.
