BIC: At first leaning as far away from Chaos as possible only to have him continue to press the package on her, she finally lets him give her the package of sweets. Shoulders still shaking with sobs and tears streaming down her now nicely splotchy cheeks, Lialye looks blankly at the package in her hand for a moment, then up at Chaos.   • Chaos smiles hopefully. She had finally stopped crying! This was a step upward, "You should listen to your friend, little Lia," he suggests gently, "try some of that. It'll make you feel a bit better, I promise." aching from leaning down to talk to her, he winces and leans back sharply.     • Looking up from Lia, Naverin turns to Chaos. "To tell you the truth, I don't think I've ever seen her act this way in all the years I've known her. She is usually well reserved and doesn't let her feelings out no matter how hard I have tried. What's this stuff called, anyway?" she asks, chewing one of the sweets with an odd expression of delight and concentration.   • "Snuddles, eh?" Chaos smirks. He steps out into the hall for a moment, but shortly returns carrying curious boots. Without explination he straps them on, then resumes his old position on the bed. "Snuddles could work. What do you think of these?" he shows off the shining footwear, "The only problem with 'em is they aren't waterproof. • Chaos grins, "These boots will come in handy in a tight spot." he straightens one leg so that the toe is facing straight up. He then gently applies pressure to the center of the sole using his foot. Surprise! A thin blade nearly the length of the shoe darts out of the toe. It is a good dwarven boot, and the blade looks beaten, not sharpened. Chaos gently lowers the blade back into its sheath by leaning hard on the heel, "This baby will come in handy, especially if it's waterproof." -- Chaos, 16:14:49 03/26/04 Fri

  • "Yes, I was kind of wondering that myself. I for one don't like to go around picking fights and then use my shoe throughout it as a weapon.     • OOC: Buh? The boots aren't waterproof. They're leather. Chaos plans on rubbing wax and other goodies on them to make them waterproof. BIC: Chaos thinks for a moment, "Well, I was thinking about the dragon quest. I chose not to go when I younger, but now I'm ready and waiting." he gently removes the boots and sets them on the bed posts, "they're used as a weapon, and as a grip. If I'm disarmed, I'll kick my way out. I used to be pretty good at kicking. If I'm trapped or have to climb something, I can use the blades as a hold." He shrugs, "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Chaos then walks over to his cabinet and opens it. On each shelf is an array of test tubes and used paper, experimental notes and ingredients. On the bottom shelf close to the front are a few homemade candles. Chaos selects a large white candle and a bowl. Sitting on the floor, he proceeds to melt the wax. -- Chaos, 18:35:12 03/29/04 Mon

Naverin, having known Lialye for as long as she has knows that there are always multiple things going on that keep her from giving her full attention to any specific thing. "Lia, are you okay? • Lialye's expression turns stony and stiffly emotionless as soon as the word "docks" comes up, and she grits her teeth and tries to force all her attention on Chaos. It does not work wonderfully well, partly because her emotions are already so strained, partly because Chaos reminds her so much of her brother in some ways, and partly because Naverin comments on Lialye's strange behavior. Feeling herself choke up, Lialye manages nevertheless to keep some semblance of control over herself, merely turning her head away from watching Chaos and hiding it behind drawn-up knees, while the tears roll silently down her face and her shoulders shake with quiet sobs. She doesn't not answer Naverin because she cannot, at least not without her voice betraying her pain far more than her semi-controlled crying is. -- Lialye, 21:04:48 04/07/04 Wed
