Author: Lialye
Subject: OOC: Um...sorry. I died? And I will die again very soon? *hides* BIC: For a long time Lialye says nothing, merely slumping against Naverin and weeping. Finally she cries herself out, and after another while of merely sitting there and calming down, she speaks in a distant, thick voice: "Luc’s been d – gone for ten years now. He…he was always more than just a brother to me; he was my best friend, my teacher, my protector…why, I can still remember the time he…no. No.” She shakes her head slightly, and pauses before continuing with difficulty. (inside)
In reply to: Chaos 's message, "OOC: Bleah. Me no like scrolling. Gets hard to find spot." on 20:21:34 04/29/04 Thu

“After our father left, he took care of our mother and me as best as he could. Luc was only seven at the time; I was five. He went out and got work where he could, though he begged and stole more than anything else. It helped add to what little Mother could provide, and kept us fairly well fed. She died five years later, and rather than turn us in to the Council – I think Luc was too proud to do that, because it wasn’t that he was shy – he just worked more. I started learning from the Healers after Mother’s death, and if I hadn’t done that I might have seen it earlier, might have gone against his wishes and told someone…as it was,” Lialye says bitterly, “I was too busy with my studies to notice any of the subtle changes that had begun occurring just before Mother died.

“It didn’t start out as much of anything at first…he just got dizzy every now and then, nothing really alarming. He always brushed it off, and made a joke of it whenever I asked if he was alright. I didn’t suspect anything for the longest time…a year went by before it got bad enough that he couldn’t hide it as well.

“It was while he was working at the d –” she pauses with a grimace and forces herself to continue, “- at the docks. He blacked out – I don’t know if he’d ever blacked out before that point, but he very well could have - and fell in the water. He almost drowned, but one of the people who saw him fall dived in and dragged him to the surface. They brought him home and called in one of the riders of the Order of the White Dragon – I was still off learning about herbs and poultices and all that pointless junk and wasn’t notified. Luc made sure of that. When he came to, he demanded that not a word be said to me of his condition, especially since the rider could do nothing to help him because he was too sick.

“By the time I got home that evening, he was half-asleep and in some pain; everyone else had already gone. I panicked, asked him what was wrong, and he – ” her voice becomes choked, “ – he merely sat up, forced a grin, and said, ‘No, I was only playing around with you.’” Here she pauses, unable to continue for a long moment. Finally, she whispers, “It wasn’t too much later that he d – that he died.”

OOC: Have fun. Um, FYI, I'm leaving for California this Friday. Joy of all joys. I'll be gone till about the 14th. Just to warn you. I don't think we have the internet at the beach house, so...yesh. Sorry...*hides*

And Chaos, don't kill me, but it didn't work out...

And yes, I AM going to the IDGA show on the 25th/26th (if it's two days like it was last year, which I'm assuming it is, but whatever). Since Mum's more or less in charge of it, we will definitely be going. Are you going to be bringing your evil Munchies?
