Siti lives up to her title as the "Most Optimistic Canoeist" in the team. I agree whole-hearted with Siti when she says that the important thing is not only the training but training with your TEAM-MATES. Nothing has changed since NS, except that there is no more training now. Your TEAM-MATES are still here.

Like what Siti has said, you can flock to the library, the canteen and the 6th Avenue ice-cream shop, instead of flocking to Kallang. In the weekdays, you can study together, have lunch/dinner together and play a game of basketball in the evening after a long day of studying. In the weekends, when you are tired of studying, you can come down to Kallang in groups to do some canoeing or go out together to have some fun. When you are feeling down, you can call up one another (especially Siti) to share your problems.

I have been through this period of "emptiness", when I was a NJ canoeist like you. Allow yourself some time to get used to life without all the training and competition. Do not expect yourself to get adjusted immediately. Some people need a short time to get into the mood of preparing for the A's, while others may take a longer time. Take care of your health with regular moderate exercising, as mental frustration building up within you may have fewer outlets with decreased physical activities. Continue to eat a well-balanced diet suppplemented by multivits. For those who have concentration problem, I strongly recommend "gingko biloba" which has proven to improve blood circulation in the brain.

Cherish all your TEAM-MATES. You are all heroes and legends, but do not forget that heroes and legends need friends too. Keep the spirit of "The greatest team that is, the greatest team that was, and the greatest team that will ever be" strong and alive. It is inevitable that some of you may choose to move on in life, but I do hope that the majority of you can get together once a while to share your experiences in life.

The real purpose of being a NJ canoeist is not to win any race or any title, but to search the limits of your heart.
I hope that through this 1.5 year, your life has been changed forever... mine has definitely changed forever thanks to all of you. You may think that your distinguished 1.5-year service as a NJ canoeist may seem to be coming to end, but unconsciously you have just embarked on a greater journey in life no matter which path you would have chosen. I salute all of you with my utmost respect. I strongly believe that great people like you will be successful in any fields of pursuit. All the best. THERE IS NO LIMITS TO WHAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE!
